Checking on our Carnica bees in Stuttgart, Germany.

This is one of warmest winters in europe and our apiaries are busy gathering pollen and nectar on Christmas. At this time of the year, they usually hibernate and take a brood pause. This helps fight varroa and other disease.

Stay tuned to find out how the honey season 2016 will be.

Carnica/Carniolian bees (Apis mellifera carnica) are quite popular here, they are gentle and less defensive than our Lebanese bees (Apis mellifera syriaca) yet they are able to adjust their population rapidly when the nectar is available or not like the Lebanese bee.
